Course Description
This session is designed to help participants recognize and define a problem or a potential problem. The participants will learn the eight steps in problem solving and decision making that lead to the removal of a problem’s cause. Tools such as sampling techniques, cost-benefit analysis, decision trees, and brainstorming will be introduced.

Methods of Instruction
Problems in organizations occur because of change, and they are revealed by gaps between expected and actual outcomes. The session will include:
- What causes a problem
- Defining specifically what the problem is
- Determining if the problem has already occurred or is presently occurring
- How to recognize a problem or potential problem
- Evaluating pros and cons of the proposed solution
- Steps in the verification process
